For some reason, all the reasons I abandoned Outlook are appearing in Thunderbird 3.0.1. I manage multiple imapped mailboxes and need to keep the mail seperate. I need to see the actual email address of the from and to fields and not the address book nicknames. I do not need a wasteful 3/4 inch grey bar between my inbox and the mail being displayed. Also, there seems to be some strange work going on behind the scenes that is sucking up cycles on my local machine. The new search is no longer limited to the folder selected.

The benefit of Thunderbird was always that it was transparent to me what was happening. The new release appears to be trying to mimic the paternalistic attitude of Microsoft that they "know " what I should want and will deliver it to me whether I like it or not. Please make some of your new features optional and document how I can turn them off. Please do not index my data continuously. I rarely search and the overhead in optimizing the search is far too expensive versus the benefit achieved.

The mantra of Thunderbird was "Take control of your Inbox". Please allow me to control it.

Not real happy with the latest update. Maybe you think you have a good reason for using more screen for worthless displays, but I want more screen for my display. New version is slower by a lot, and that is NEVER acceptable.

My e-mails keep disappearing from my imbox. Yesterday I had 19 e-mails in the inbox all of which had been read and I hoped retained. When I switch on today there are only 5 e-mails which have arrived today, but on updating to 3.0.1 they have gone. Where and why?
