Changelog for previous release (Thunderbird 2.0.0.22) | Changelogs for other Thunderbird releases
Released on 20 Aug 09, and this changelog was last updated on 31 Aug 09.
Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 has been released. Release notes are available. This post lists the improvements in Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 over 2.0.0.22. This list encompasses almost every single known fix that went into this release. Do check out the known issues as well.
The Gecko 1.8.1.x branch (Thunderbird 2.0.0.x series) will not include any features that Gecko 1.9.x will bring, since it is based on Gecko 1.8.
Impact key for security issues listed on the Mozilla Foundation Security Advisories webpage:
- Critical: Vulnerability can be used to run attacker code and install software, requiring no user interaction beyond normal browsing.
- High: Vulnerability can be used to gather sensitive data from sites in other windows or inject data or code into those sites, requiring no more than normal browsing actions.
- Moderate: Vulnerabilities that would otherwise be High or Critical except they only work in uncommon non-default configurations or require the user to perform complicated and/or unlikely steps.
- Low: Minor security vulnerabilities such as Denial of Service attacks, minor data leaks, or spoofs. (Undetectable spoofs of SSL indicia would have “High” impact because those are generally used to steal sensitive data intended for other sites.)
Changes in 2.0.0.23: (2)
Security issue: (1)
- Fixed: MFSA 2009-42 – Compromise of SSL-protected communication (Critical)
Other fix: (1)
- Fixed: 499958 - When you right click and Send To ‘Mail Recipient’ it fails [ms windows] / Send Attachment

where do i post a bug in thunderbird? it’s a significant one on v2.0.0.23

I’ve installed many upgrades now, but in none of them have the “Back” and “Forward” buttons worked. This bug makes reading one’s messages unnecessarily laborious and tedious. Occasionally (maybe 1 message in 100), one of the buttons lights up, and I can use it to skip to the next message. But from there I’m allowed only to go back to the previous message (in other words, it’s a 2-message loop). Is this a known issue? Any thoughts on resolving the problem? Thank you.

When I attempt to send an email I get the error message “is not a valid email address because it is not of the form user@host. The addressees I’m attempting to use are two folders in the Thunderbird address book. The first consists of 14 complete address’ i.e. have domain names and the second with 4 address’. I’ve done nothing different than the last time that I sent an email to these (church) groups but Thunderbird now refuses to use address’ from it’s own address book. Ver 2.0.0.23 (20090812) I’m now faced with laboriously sending 18 separate identical emails. Help

I have the same issue as James J. Smisloff with the email lists not working after installing V2.0.0.23. It worked just fine my previous versions of Thunderbird. Any ideas?

@ James, Bill and HE.
I had the same problem with a user and it was a corrupt group entry.
Recreate the group with a new name and the same contacts, close and restart Thunderbird and then send to the new group. If this works you can remove the old group and change the name of the new group to the old group name.
This worked for me.

I just upgraded to 2.0.0.23 and I get a calendar error every time I click on any email message. This is the message I get:
[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [mozIStorageConnection.executeSimpleSQL]” nsresult: “0×80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)” location: “JS frame :: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Joe%20Mraz.LATITUDE/Application%20Data/Thunderbird/Profiles/sd496njl.default/extensions/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/components/calStorageCalendarModule.js -> file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Joe%20Mraz.LATITUDE/Application%20Data/Thunderbird/Profiles/sd496njl.default/extensions/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/js/calStorageCalendar.js :: addColumn :: line 898″ data: no]

When I receive large messages in Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 the messages are not displayed correctly. Once I clip on the load images button and not a scam the message will begin to be displayed. If I scroll through a long message, (say one for PC World Daily Tech News) the beginning and the end of the message is displayed correctly but the middle of the message is unreadable because of overlapping of the text with the images in the message. I have tried to re-install version Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 but I still get the same results. Help…

The current version has a problem with Edit>Undelete not working. The Ctrl+Z function doesn’t work either.
