I am unable to forward any emails inline. Instead I have to Forward as attachment or Reply which is a pain in the behind. When trying to Forward the message, I get a blank window. At first I thought the message was attached but once I sent it... there was no text attached.
I tested this on Windows XP as well as Linux Ubuntu 8.04. Any fix ideas ??

On Fri May 14, 2008 Brian mentions:" . . . on my home computer ... messages are superimposed on top of one another, in my inbox and in all other folders." I sympathize, when I tried to use TB the second time, after upgrading to version 2, this problem was so annoying I almost gave up on TB. All of the folder entries, the "To," "From," "Subject," "Size," "Sender," and "Date" fields are superimposed over and over, looking like a bad snapshot of a newspaper classifieds section, run off an old over-inked printing press, it hurts the eyes. The fix I found in the TB threads at Mozilla Forums was so easy, I could have cried, it was fixed in just seconds.

You need to go to your "Display Properties," the easiest way in Windows 2000 or XP is to go to your Desktop and 'Right-Click' your mouse, and 'Click' "Properties" in the context menu, or else go to >Start, >Control Panel, and then click on >Display Properties. Your Dispay Properties will have 4 or 5(or more) Tabs, depending on what extra display software (or hardware) you have installed, you want to click the very last Tab which says "Settings." Next click the button which says "Advanced." On the "General" Tab, you have three choices of what you wish for your Computer to do after you change your Display Settings, for this change I select "Apply the new display settings without restarting." Now I go to the Tab labeled "Troubleshoot." You will see a section labeled "Hardware acceleration" which includes a slider interface which can be moved with your mouse pointer. The far left setting will apply "None" Hardware Acceleration, and the far right setting will apply "Full" Hardware Acceleration. Because of limitations in the programming of TB 2, "Full" hardware acceleration will cause the Superimposed display on many installations. Simplay move the slider to the left one position, the text beneath the Slider Interface will change from "All accelerations are enabled. Use this setting if your computer has no problems. (Recommended)" to "Disable cursor and bitmap accelerations. Use this setting to correct problems with the mouse pointer, or to correct problems with corrupt images." On my computer, the box marked "Enable write combining" is still checked. At this point you should be ready to click "Apply" and then "Ok." If you opted to "apply changes now" earlier on the "General" tab, you should see your PC screen go dark for a few seconds, and then return to normal. Now when you view your Inbox and other TB folders, they should no longer have the annoying superimposed text. I applied this change in December 2007, and I have not noticed any differences in the appearance of my Windows graphical interface, or other software and graphics.

For those having the mozmapi error, if you have a logitech webcam, try quitting the logitech tray application when updating. It seems that it locks the DLL, the problem is not thunderbird, but rather another application not playing nicely. Perhaps tbird developers can talk to the folks at logitech about this.

Here's a url with some info:

First, I had a problem as many including Steve Hunter ("Partial update could not be applied", etc. Removed TBird, then reinstalled the full version 2.0.014 (20080421). All seemed to work fine until I started getting the warning like Mike - had the same problem..."One or more files could not be updated. Please make sure all other applications are closed and that`you have permission to modify files, and then restart Thunderbird to try again." Am running Vista 64bit and had the User Account Control (what was M.S. thinking with this?) turned off. Turned it back on and got the usual UAC permission prompt to the Admin. Acct. in all 3 other "limited" accts. The update was then applied. After this all seems to work fine - at least until the next update from TBird, then who knows? Will try the "mozMapi32.dll rename by Paul next time.

To all who have issues with installing the update. The problem is with Thunderbird trying to delete the mozMapi32.dll What you need to do, is navigate to this directory. C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird Look for the file called mozMapi32.dll

Rename that file to something like mozMapi32.dll.bak (note you can't delete it, only rename it)

Then download the full release of Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 and install it. It will all work fine, and you won't lose anything.
