I *finally* found a solution to the “long delay on first email composition” problem described in my earlier comment. It is a known Thunderbird bug and to fix it [all] I had to do was delete over 5000 unnecessary lines in my Thunderbird profile’s prefs.js file.

How about opening email links in Firefox rather than IE?

I have been using Thunderbird for a while now and like it and I always get the latest updates but there do seem to be a few bugs and I’d like to see them fixed. The email formatting problem as previously mentioned is annoying and also when you unmark an item as junk it does not go to the inbox. Other problems include the junk mail filter being inaccurate. When I unmark an item as junk and I get emails from that sender again, it still goes to junk. Same with newsletters from Flixster – Thunderbird thinks its an email scam and does it every time even though I keep telling Thunderbird its okay. It doesnt seem to have a long memory for that. And sometimes it downloads the same message multiple times and also displays the wrong date for some messages and puts them out of order. Eg. an email that I know was sent to me today will say it was sent sometime earlier this year. Apart from these bugs, Thunderbird is good.

Good Product but I have seem to run into a problem. I have downloaded version 1.5.0.8. Since then when I write an email, in the message body I can not highlight any text with my mouse. That means that I can not do a cut a paste. This seems to be only affecting the message body. I can highlight in the subject field and the address field. This was not a problem before downloading the update. I am running windows 2k.

i love this program.

one thing i would like fixed though, is that when i boot firefox it asks “do you want me to compact the folders” (my words.. i forget the specific words), then it tries to download new mail at the same time.. then it says “cannot download new mail as another function is running”. pretty annoying.. i wish it would just compact folders without asking and maybe do it at a less critical point than when downloading new mail..

[Windows Version] For some time now (i.e. several releases) I always encounter an extremely long delay (30 plus seconds) with the first message I compose after launching the program. The composition window itself displays quickly, but there’s a big pause right after I type the first few letters of the sender’s nickname or email address. I tried turning autocomplete off but this didn’t help. It also does not happen after the first message, so it sounds like some initialization problem. However this has become so annoying I feel no choice but to start looking around for another email client…

I still can’t set the default font in the Options … Html. It keeps returning to Variable Width.

When will this be fixed?

Well, I think Thunderbird is an excellent product and apart from minor bugs like the last release’s Password prompt – it’s always worked flawlessly for me!

There still exist the bug that has been happening since 1.0.7 with the Address Book. If you do an advance search using the Organization field as the key, no records will show up even though the Organization fields are completely populated. Works in 1.0.6 with no issues.

How do I make the default text size larger?

I would like to increase the default size and font for my readers who do not have perfect eyesight
